  • If you want to pursue the CEH as a validation of their experience in Networking, System Administration, Troubleshooting, or Programming, then it is definitely worth it!
  • If you want to manage InfoSec processes, write best practices, security policies, or disaster recovery procedures, you might have the CISSP certification. But if you want to understand what  managing or writing policies is about, and actually be competent and good at this, the knowledge of the CEH is invaluable, whether you plan to get certified or not.
  • If you just want the certification, and expect it to magically open doors,  that isn’t going to happen.  It takes commitment and passion for IT and security awareness coupled with experience in the field. The CEH is not for noobs, but for IT and InfoSec professionals.
  • For most students the CEH will introduce them to a step above what they are used to and know. Hacking  is not limited to any platform or OS (Operating System) and requires in depth knowledge of Processes, Protocols, and Applications (and human behavior for the fun Social Engineering). So for personal growth and understanding it is also a great certification!
  • If you want to continue into the InfoSec field of PEN-testing (Penetration Testing & Auditing), then the CEH certification is the foundation, followed by the ECSA/LPT - Certified Security Analyst/Licensed Penetration Tester.
